Observe
Eco-Sunday in your Church!
For the past few years EFICOR has motivated churches to
observe the first Sunday of June as Eco – Sunday. This is to
coincide with the World Environment Day (1 June) established
by the United Nations. About 800 churches had observed the
same and we deeply appreciate your participation. Some of
the churches have expressed their inability to observe it
on the first week of June as they have other programmes.
Though it is preferred to observe Eco-Sunday in the first
week of June, it can be held on any Sunday. The spirit
behind it is to bring awareness to the church on environmental
issues and to encourage stewardship. This year too we want to
invite you to observe the Eco Sunday.
The theme is “Land Matters: When the Land produces no more”.
This theme has been chosen to coincide with the theme decided by
United Nations “DESERTS AND DESERTIFICATION / DON’T DESERT DRYLANDS”.
We are encouraging churches to be aware on the issue of “Land” and be
involved in actions to conserve, protect and to utilise it as good
stewards of our Lord.
In assisting you to observe Eco Sunday, EFICOR has developed resource
materials (both in English and Hindi) containing Order of worship,
Sermon outline, Facts on “Land Matters”, Feedback forms and posters.
We request you to also inform your field missionaries to observe the same.
If you can send us the list of missionaries we will be able to send the
materials directly to them. Please fill up the order form which is attached
indicating the number of copies required along with the complete addresses.
