LRC sensitization workshop

EFICOR is committed to practice the principle of inclusive development, by promoting person with disabilities (PWD) through all its action and processes at all levels in the organization and its services.  Since 2011, EFICOR has been working for skill development and job placements of Persons with disabilities through- Access to Livelihoods, in Delhi /NCR.

EFICOR Livelihood Resource Centre has been providing training and job placement support to various disabilities i.e, orthopaedic, Speech & Hearing Impaired, Intellectual Disability (slow learners) and visually impaired. From April 2011 to February 2016, It has facilitated training and job placements for 600 PWDs in IT/ITES, retail, bank and hospitality sectors promising each person with disability to have a barrier free working environment.

On 27th Feb 2016, EFICOR conducted a corporate sensitization workshop at Piccadily, New Delhi. The objective of the workshop was to create the awareness among the employers towards the hiring of persons with disabilities as a workforce. Mr. Ramesh Babu, EFICOR Director (Programs), spoke about EFICOR engagement with PWD since 5 years. Mr. Jitu Kumar, EFICOR –Manager programmes, shared the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in getting jobs. He thanked the companies hiring persons with disabilities.5z5a1253

Well known companies Accenture, IBM, Lemon Tree Hotels, Nabet, Vodafone, HBS etc. which participated in the workshop discussed on “Inclusive & Barrier free employment for persons with Disabilities”. They shared their experiences of hiring PWDs, the need of accessible workplaces and how the companies can create accessible workplace environment to accommodate PWD. Mr. Jainender Kumar from Vocational Rehabilitation Centre shared his valuable thoughts on “Abilities and Opportunities” for PWD. During the workshop 20 new companies were made aware of inclusive employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. The new companies which attended the workshop were V.R Solutions, ICCS, Manat Sys, Money Muliplier, Karvey Stock Broking etc.
