EFICOR responds to Bihar Floods 2017

Bihar State is reeling under floods in the current month. As on August 23, 2017 the government data says that 367 people have died, 158.31 million (1.58 crore) people are affected, 24350 houses were completely destroyed and thousands of livestock are lost and properties damaged in 21 districts namely Araria, Sitamarhi, East & West Champaran, Supaul, Madhubani, Kisanganj, Darbanga, Purnea, Patna, Nalanda, Madhepura, Katihar, Sheohar, Gopalganj, Saharsa, Khagaria, Saran, Muzaffarpur and Samastipur. According to an official release, till date 7,76,357 people have been evacuated to safe places by the rescue teams of the Army, the National Disaster Response Force, and the State Disaster Response Force. The government has set up 1358 relief camps in which 4,22,106 people are living. Floods have destroyed standing crops like paddy, pulses, and vegetables, which are the main source of livelihood.
