
5000 families were provided with relief materials. The materials provided were Rice, Wheat Flour, Satu (Pulses flour), Masoor dal (Pulses). Salt, Mustard Oil, Turmeric powder, coriander powder, Chili powder, washing soap, bathing soap, tarpaulin (12 x 9ft.).
The remaining 1000 families will be provided with relief materials in a week’s time.

Case Study:
Mr.
Basudev Paswan is a 52 years old from Lakhnur block in Madhubani
District. He is a farmer and lives in Madanpur Panchayat with
his wife Belan Paswan and 3 children who are age 21, 18 and 16
years.
On 26th
July 2007 at around 5.30 p.m. water entered their house and was
totally flooded by night which resulted in partial damage of the
house. They had to vacate their house and stay in their
neighbours house. Their agriculture land was also full of water
and all the paddy they had sown with the money borrowed from the
money lender was destroyed. The family was totally helpless and
depressed with no house and no food to eat.
Madanpur Panchayat was one the target village selected by EFICOR.
On 27th August Mr. Paswan along with other 1000
beneficiaries received the relief items, the items included-
Rice-10 kgs, Wheat Flour – 15 kgs, Satu (Pulses flour) – 3 Kgs,
Masoor (Pulses) – 2 kgs, Salt – 1 kgs. Mustard Oil – 1 liter.
Turmeric powder – 100 gms, coriander powder – 200 gms, Chili
powder – 100 gms, Washing soap – 1 pc, Bathing soap – 1 pcs,
tarpaulin 12 x 9 fts – I pcs.
Mr.
Paswan and his family are grateful for the relief items they
received; this has helped them in relieving them of their
immediate problems. |
Phase II - Supaul, Sitamarhi and
Samastipur district:
The next phase of
intervention will target 10,000 families in 3 districts of Supaul,
Sitamarhi and Samatipur of Bihar. The relief items will be wheat, rice,
pulses, sattu, cooking oil and iodized salt. The relief distribution
will be done this week.
