An “Awareness on Biblical Basis for Social Concern & Training for Training Providers”


An “Awareness on Biblical Basis for Social Concern & Training for Training Providers” was organised at the Social Development and Training center, Ranchi, Jharkhand from November 13, 2007 to November 16,2007 with the objective of raising awareness among pastors and evangelists of Jharkand about the Biblical basis for our involvement in social concern ministries and also to train them in conducting awareness programs on social concern.

  • Some of the topics covered were Characteristics of God, Mission of man, Who the poor are?, Gods concern for the poor and marginalized, Prayer and Poor, Old Testament and the poor, Gospel and poor, How much can we give to the poor?, Our mission, What Church or we as individual can do for the poor?, Kingdom of God

  • Topics covered under training to conduct Awareness program were Adult learning technique, Dialog advantages, Qualities of the trainer, Check list for the traininer,Accounting requirement, Reporting procedures
Three resource people Mr. L. Green Thomas, Program Co-ordinator, EFICOR ,Pastor. Akash Nandi (ACTS ) and Pastor Madhur Sangit (ACTS) took the participants through various sessions and 25 people attended the Awareness

Learning to share

43 year old Mrs. Emlen Runda is a retired teacher with two children from Ranchi, Jharkhand. Her husband is employed with a bank. Having attended two days training on Awareness on Biblical Basis for Social Concern & Training for Training Providers” she shared all the learnings with her family members. As a result, they wanted to distribute their almost new clothes to the poor people. ACT, an NGO runs its women’s empowerment groups in the rural parts of Jharkhand. Through these groups the clothes are distributed among the poor of Lapung block of Ranchi.

As a family, they have also decided to support an adult literacy centre to enable older people receive free basic education from next year.
