



Copenhagen may have ended in a deadlock but its a big leap forward for the civil society organizations as they exerted pressure on major parties to accept the view points of small island countries and least developed countries & developing economies to make the deal fair and just.

Mr Sanjeev Bhanja, Director Programmes represented EFICOR at the 15th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15), at
EFICOR also focused on the lobby points - no legally binding emission targets for G-77 and China which includes India; Capacity Building and Transfer of Technology to developing nations including India; and clear and specific allocation for adaptation with easy governance mechanism; long term commitment on finance by Annex-I (developed and industrialized countries on polluter pays principle basis) beyond 2012.
Mr Sanjeev Bhanja, being part of the CAN Finance group, met the delegations of USA, G-77 and China and India and put forth viewpoints on finance to the governments.
Mr Sanjeev Bhanja, also addressed a group students from Sweden, Germany and Netherlands, on 13th December 09 at the request of Tear Fund Netherlands. The students were in Copenhagen following the CoP proceedings and representing the Church in influencing from justice and stewardship point of view.
