EFICOR’S EMERGENCY OPERATIONS IN FLOOD HIT STATES
On July 5, 2007, incessant heavy rains following a deep depression in the Bay of Bengal led to the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Orissa being severely hit by floods. It resulted in loss of life, damage to crops, displacement of people and destruction. Most of the houses collapsed as seen in the picture. Water supply was also badly affected as the hand-pumps have submerged under water. The threat of outbreak of water borne diseases is looming large over these areas.
