Tara Bai-an agent of change

Tara Bai dropped out of school, got married and is now the mother of 4 kids. She is one of the committee members in Village Watershed Committee (VWC) of EFICOR’s Damoh Watershed project from MeghawaKhurd Village, Block Tendukheda, Damoh District of Madhya Pradesh.untitled After becoming a member of the VWC, she attended meetings, conscientiously, every week for over two years. She learnt a lot about village development, the need to save water and maintain its quality. This year, the water situation in her village began to deteriorate. The Watershed Committee decided to meet the District Magistrate (DM). Tara Bai was part of the group that went to meet the DM and she suggested that they take some water from the village to show the DM. The DM got the water tested, came unfit even for animals, and he ordered a new bore well and water treatment till the bore well is installed. Tara Bai made the shift from an unknown village woman to a lady who can advocate for her village and smartly plan the activity.
