What was impossible became possible because of LRC “, Says Anjali

The smell of lemon that a visitor encounters at Lemon Tree Hotel wafts around Anjali eight hours a day. Speech and hearing impaired, Anjali completed her schooling from a government school. Her mother is a single parent and struggled to bring up Anjali and her brother. Growing up in Rohtak, moral and financial support from her uncle and grandfather kept her spirits up. “I am not able to communicate with everyone because of my disability. My communication is restricted to those who know sign language. I can write but I find it difficult to communicate with children, elders and illiterate people. Sometimes people can be very offensive in their attitude to me. I feel very bad. I want to speak and hear but this is not possible. I wish some miracle happens and restores my powers of speech and hearing!”

untitled-anjaliAt 20 Anjali married Kamaljeet who is speech and hearing impaired like Anjali. Both needed jobs and came to EFICOR’s Livelihood Resource Centre which provided them with training, counseling, and apropriate skills, for employment. Counselled to initially look for jobs together and close to home, the couple opted to go for the interview at Lemon Tree Hotel in Gurgaon. Lemon Tree offered those jobs in the Food and Beverages department and they were thrilled.

“LRC’s support has changed our lives. How can they work having a disability – people asked. What was impossible became possible because of LRC. A very special thanks to LRC!” The LRC team is proud of Anjali “Anjali is confident and very active. She has good command over sign language. Our prayers are for her success in her new job and life.”
